Flame Retardant Bedding — BS7175 Certified
A failed fire risk assessment is expensive. Not just the re-inspection fee — the scramble to replace non-compliant bedding across every room before the follow-up visit is worse. Getting the right certified products in place before that conversation happens is the smarter move.
This range covers the standards most commonly specified by fire risk assessors across the UK — BS7175 Source 5, Source 7, and Crib 7 certified products including duvets, pillows, bed linen, protectors and blankets. Everything is supplied direct from our Bolton warehouse, with bulk pricing and no minimum order.
If you are equipping a full facility or just replacing a few items, browse the range below or call our trade team on 01204 896528 — they know this range and can help you match products to what your assessment requires.
Understanding BS7175 — Source 5, Source 7 and Crib 7
Getting the wrong certification is as bad as having none. Here is what each standard means in plain terms.
Source 5 tests resistance to a smouldering cigarette. It is the minimum standard required in most hotels, guest houses and residential care homes across the UK.
Source 7 tests resistance to a small open flame — a more demanding test. It is typically required in higher-risk settings: HMOs with vulnerable occupants, certain nursing homes, and properties where a detailed fire risk assessment has specified a higher standard.
Crib 7 (BS7175-Crib 7) applies specifically to contract bed linen — duvet covers, fitted sheets and pillowcases used in commercial bedrooms. If your fire risk assessment mentions Crib 7, the certified bed linen in this range meets that requirement.
Not sure which standard applies to your property? Your fire risk assessor is the right person to ask. You can also call us on 01204 896528 and we will point you in the right direction.
What's in the Range

FAQs
What is the difference between BS7175 Source 5 and Source 7?
Source 5 simulates a smouldering cigarette. Source 7 simulates a small open flame and is the higher standard. Most hotels and care homes need Source 5 as a minimum. Higher-risk settings or those with a more detailed fire risk assessment often require Source 7. Check your assessment or ask your assessor directly.
Do I need certification documentation with my order?
Our FR products are clearly marked with their certification standard. If you need supporting paperwork for an inspection or fire risk assessment, call us on 01204 896528 before ordering and we can assist.
What does Crib 7 mean for bed linen?
Crib 7 is the ignition source used in BS7175 testing for contract bed linen. It represents a sustained small flame test and is the standard most commonly specified for duvet covers, sheets and pillowcases used in regulated accommodation.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
No. You can order a single item or a full facility's worth. Bulk pricing kicks in at higher quantities — call 01204 896528 for a quote if you are ordering in volume.
Is waterproof the same as flame retardant?
No — they are different properties. Some products here are both, such as the PU duvet and pillow range. Check the individual product listing confirms both certifications before ordering.
Do you supply NHS and care home facilities?
Yes, regularly. We accommodate purchase orders and trade accounts for facilities with formal procurement processes. Call 01204 896528 for trade account enquiries.
